HI, WHERE DID YOU GET THE SERVICE MANUAL?
Ebay USA
But no switch to turn lights on off manually? Are the accessories switchable ?
Easy to fit a switch if required. Buy one with the lights.
I had the same choice, wanted a bike that's fun to ride, different, well built, no time for longer trips at the moment, cost wasn't an issue. Considered everything from a Guzzi V1000 to a Z900RS. Ended up with a 961SP from the dealer you went to. The fact it doesn't have a quick shifter, TFT dash, rider modes etc was a plus for me. They are being built for a short time until the new range arrives, which are being launched this Nov. I think of it as a hand built bike, with top end suspension and brakes. Your right about the pegs though, once mine is out of warranty I'll fix that.
I think I may have admired it at J&S! If so that was the reason for my test ride. I’m still mulling things over. I could forgive most things, not sure about that steering lock. Beautiful bike. I’ve always wanted one but cannot be bothered with old bike brakes/leaks etc. of the 70s bikes. I do think it’ll be the end of the line also. Future bikes likely watercooled Euro 6 jobs. Maybe losing the character. Say hello if you are at J& S anytime. I’ll definitely spot the bike 👍👍
@@CodgerBiker Will do, its got to go back for its 500 mile service soon. Oakmere a cool place, I liked the white E type.. The steering look is due to the thicker USD forks I reckon. You get used to it. My old Ducatis are worse. I was surprised how many the AD had already sold, Mine was number 34, that was in late May. Given that Norton lose 5K on each 961 sold, they are cheap for what you get.. I go through why I bought mine on my channel. Also servicing is cheap, as they have pushrods with hydraulic lifters, so never need to set valve clearances.
Yes I was at the recent bike night at J&S, surprised how busy it was. Guess you must live near me, I'm in Warrington.
@@CodgerBiker I would add the real cost of something is the difference between what you buy it for and what you you sell it for. I suspect these TVS 961's will keep there value in the future. Even the SG era bikes, with all there known issues still retain their value very well.
Will check out/sub 👍
Have you sold the KTM 690 as well? 😮 is the NT1100 going? its all change..
Nt staying... for now. Life is all about change! 😉👍
@@CodgerBikerthe KTM has gone though?
Sadly, due to my medical conditions just now, yes. I cannot offroad. 😢
@@CodgerBiker ohhh sorry to hear that. I hope it’s not serious
I have the DCT. Got the Voyager Pack free but only in the White as there was a Special Offer on the 2023 but registered with a 24 plate. Last one lined up Really wanted the Blue but that was a manual. Special Thanks to Jason at Brayleys Honda Motorcycles Romford.
Both versions = great bikes 👍👍
I could live with the vibes, it’s the reliability that puts me off the most. There’s too many issues cropping up on these bikes, just look at the forums yourself. Oil leaks from the cylinder head at 60 miles, latest example I’ve seen from 3 weeks ago. Yes there is warranty but there’s all the hassle and inconvenience that goes with it. Anyway, I hope you have a good ownership experience.
I agree. You need absolute confidence in dealership support before committing. 👍
16.5K Is outrageous - oil and air cooling similar design to the Royal Enfield 650 - I know i would keep looking - in fact I did and now own a 2020 RE Interceptor with 2000 miles and many extras for $4000 US - I’ve been on bikes 60 years so many I’ve lost count and with everything that’s available nowadays the price of the Norton is crazy Good honest review Thanks
It ain't cheap. They are handmade in UK. Labour costs here are many times higher per bike I suspect. But, as you say, plenty of choice. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@CodgerBiker yup as you say hand made - for that price it would have to go in a case or on my wall as a piece of art LOL originally from Barry Island S Wales and grew up with Brit bikes all around in fact 2 Norton featherbeds were my cousins bikes Mine were trumpets and BSA Thanks for the response J
I received the bar risers last week. I gave my dealership them with the R&G radiator cover. Unfortunately they said there’s not much cable but before I stepped in he said I’ve fitted the radiator cover for free. You a anywhere near Essex London???Free Fosters 36 cans.
Sorry, NW. But there is likely some variation in setups. If dealer not happy then I'd leave them. Not worth the risk of losing front brake, worst case scenario.
I've watched the vlogs on the other 2 bikes. What I do know is that it's obvious which one of the 3 made you laugh out loud the most. Only you know codger what type of riding you are going to do in the future and I'm sure you will make the right choice..ps what is it with mad chisel throwing woodwork teachers, I had one as well..and coincidently a wonderful metalwork teacher who also taught me a lot of life lessons.
Problem is I love all those bikes. I need to assess future rides. For now my NT1100 is also excellent , especiall in rain. Woodwork teachers! Agree. I wonder if they were old soldiers with PTSD or something. Certainly weren't suitable to be with kids trying their best. It'd be compensation all round these days! 😂 (When I was a lad... etc.)
961 defentley, I've just taken delivery of my Triumph T120 and with my Continental GT650 I'm having so so so much fun, days of looking like a power ranger are over 😂
Certainly very tempting. More fun for shorter distances. Makes a run out an event. 👍
Kick start my heart again
Motley C 😎👍👍
As you already know mate, not really my cuppa. But, I do love the soundtrack from that engine! Lovely. You could just buy a Triumph Scrambler you know 😉😂
I think, of that type/style of bike, it'd only be a Norton for me. Genuinely reminded me of your 401 in terms of ergos. Lots of fun. 👍👍
Nice bike. That Norton logo too 👌
It's a beautiful thing. No doubt about it. 👍👍
Sounds mean!
Okay. so that's how someone in their 70s starts one. How would someone in their 50s do it? 😉
Ha ha! They've probably never had their leg over - one! 😂
Really !!
Yup!
How tall and heavy are you ?
175cm 72kg I wear Adv boots by Alpinestars (Corazal). Makes a difference 👍
Yep, I share your thoughts about the NT, I bought a six month old manual model with the voyager pack, I have done some of the upgrades as you (as you know)! including fitting the quickshifter that I absolutely love! I actually think the NT is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing, not high on kerbside appeal but a very quick road bike if you want it to be! suspension, balance, weight and brakes, all excellent. Very stable in high winds too, I did a tour in Cornwall the first week of June, it seemed everywhere I stopped someone would walk over and talk motorbikes! I'm off to Scotland in July, I can't wait 😀 Oh, I call mine Norman (NT = Norman Tebbit) the bike is the same colour as him to!
Wolf in sheep's clothing. Spot on! Those who know, know. Enjoy your trip. Jealous. Ride safe!. 👍
After watching your very well explained video I fitted these today, myself!!, will be out to try them tomorrow to see if they stop my arm and shoulder pain after riding for an hour. Thanks mate
Glad it was useful. I hope it works. 👍
On Friday, June 28, I receive the NT 1100 DCT from the dealer.
Congratulations. Ride safe! 👍👍
@@CodgerBiker You too, bro🤙🤙🤙
Could you tell me what torque setting you used please? Thanks 👍
As answered in comments below: I presume you mean the 2 caliper bolts, not the Extenda nuts n bolts. I only have a pdf of the NT1100 Repair manual. In it it states the caliper bolts should be replaced if used. Then torqued to 45nm and use Loctite. But I cannot guarantee the accuracy.
@@CodgerBiker Thanks 👍
The Alien Queen rides again! Not you CB. The bike 😂 I'm with you. For normal day to day riding, 100bhp or thereabouts is the sweet spot.
Ha ha! Alien Queen! I might change my channel name. 😂😂 I was a big fan of Orson Scott-Card too. Also 100nm is great. I'm a big fan of torque 👍
@@CodgerBiker I was thinking more along the lines of James Cameron myself 😂
I'd guessed that. Just trying to out-geek you 👽
@@CodgerBiker Crack on! You'll easily win 😜
😂👍👍
Thanks for that video, always a good impression and fun review. I have commented before about your bike to replace my ageing 2011, 1200 GS, air/oil cooled, which I love, but has 52k on it now, 80k on my last one. Which is still lighter than the NT, (229kgs full ). But is EURO 3 , likes 98 Octane, will run ok on 95, but “pinks” under load. And 98 is becoming less frequent. Struggle in France, and not common in Scotland. Never wanted a water cooled GS, too heavy, and the 1300 GS is far too expensive, so BMW has finished for me sadly. Unless they put a R12 nine T engine in a GS frame…. Ha ! I live in the NW, like you, I’ve been to two Honda Dealers, Blackpool and Chester to try for a NT test ride and they are only DCT, which I don’t want. So it has put me off. But the NT is the only bike I would consider to replace my BM, and they do a lovely Red one now. Honda seem to be really pushing their DCT’s. Cheers, keep up the fun vid’s 👍🏻
Hi Mike. Thanks for kind feedback. It's just my hobby and don't take it too seriously. I got my bike from Youles, Manchester. They did have a manual demo last year. Maybe worth a call. And yes Honda really are into auto. E-clutch and DCT. Personally, like yourself, having a clutch is like having 2 wheels, on a motorbike - essential, part of the ride. There's always the new V-Stroms, the road going version looks interesting. Just a thought. Thanks for watching/commenting, it all adds to the fun. 👍
You mention that you prefer to still put an inkine fuse for each connected unit, and I can buy that. But doesnt also that remove a large reason to use this item? You can probably get a fuse box for 1/3 of the cost, fulfilling the same role?
Good point. However after 3 years faultless use I'd probably just leave an inline fuse in if the lead already had one. Secondly, heated grips apart which 'pulse', it will auto switch on/off anything connected to it, a few seconds after start up. So no battery drain if DrJ forgets to turn the lights etc off. Basically it's a versatile thing. 👍
Screens I’ve had a few, yes I seem to remember a few 😳 going on your duke 😵💫😆
Ha ha! Those who know, know! How are you getting along these days? 👍
@@CodgerBiker things couldn’t be better thanks, I am all clear as I think I told you, and on November 04 will be retiring 33 years to the day I started with my present company and on December 31st if all goes to schedule will be first time grandparents , life’s great 😊
That IS brilliant. Triple result. Enjoy your retirement (between nappies 😂). Are you going to upload bike videos like the rest of us retirees? 👍👍
Well, apart from the fact that I trod on a white hot piece of bbq charcoal that had fell on the floor (yes I know shouldn’t have been in bare feet 🙄) second degree burns and the f900r sits in the garage unridden for the past month 😕
Looks like it brought you luck. Like when a seagull craps on you. Hopefully you'll get back soon. 👍👍
I've done 20,000 miles in 18 mouths on my bike which is identical to yours. All for pleasure just did 3,400 miles around Europe over 20 days. I only ever use Urban setting and as long as chain is adjusted correctly (it's got to be right) the throttle is fine. I average 57 mpg. Keep up the good work.
Good information. I did adjust the chain yesterday as I suspected it might need doing. Not ridden it since. Hopefully it'll do the trick. Ride safe and thanks again - appreciated 👍👍
Good on yer
Cheers! 👍
Nice video, just fitted the front fender extender myself after watching your video. I did similar to you and didn't take the fender off to fit the extender and have just used the sticky tabs rather than drill the fender. Only thing I did extra was to use a bit of black flexible sealant to fill the gap where the fender and extender meet on the inside of fender to stop any water/dirt getting into where the sticky tabs are. I hope this will prolong how long it stays on
Good idea. 👍 DrJ stuck one on his Triumph Tiger 4 years back, and it's still there. So long as it is clean, and time allowed to cure, it seems to be fairly strong. 👍👍
I have water on the tank to. And you can se the wheel if you look down in the gap
Modern mudguards! 🤷♂️
Bentley workers get discount on Ducati through wages on pcp
Really? Now that's a perk. 👍👍
What do you use to record both your voice and engine noise without the wind affecting it? Also awesome little bike, I love my smaller bikes despite my big frame. Spend more time on my dt125 and GSXs150 than I do my 650 and litrebike.
Cheers. I have a Drift Ghost mic inside my helmet, with a dead cat. It pokes out of the helmet padding to side of my face. Camera is a Gopro Hero 10 black with audio mod and max lens with horizon levelling, mounted at chin. This seems to be best all round set up for motorcycle vlogging. Used for several years. I hope that helps, thanks for watching,
That is why they let you test them...Just buy the bike to create content!!...come test our bike Codger!!! it is right over here!!
I like to try any bike. Two wheels always makes me happy. You're a bit far away 👍👍
Yup. The mirrors are only there because they are a legal requirement. Bin them for bar ends asap! Suspension feels a little stiff until you are 'moving'. I guess it's set up for sporty riding rather than commuting on bumpy British roads. All the same, I love my one. It's a more comfortable sports bike.
You are King of Naked. You should have that on a big sign outside your house! 😂
Just needed an on black and white film filter and Pathe News music and it could have been old TT footage 😉
Ha ha! Good idea. It is fun riding small bikes. You forget what it was like to go everywhere with the throttle pinned, and a 3" wide rear tyre. 😂👍
Sweet! That bike sounds great, Codger! Mine never sounded that good yet still provided hundreds of hours of quirky, rang-atang-atang, blue-sniffiing fun. Priceless! Enjoy! 👍
Cheers! It still needs a few more miles/tweaks but it's getting there. Feels like it did in 1984. I wish I did! 😉👍
About the speed I can eek out of my TS 125, given I am 6'4 and have the high bars fitted on mine though
It's getting there. Probably another 5mph on a long straight, chin on the tank. It's fun at 40-55 anyway isn't it? Excellent really for the age of the design. Modern 125s probably no faster, if maybe more sophisticated. 👍👍
I had problems fastening the springs that hole the muffler to the pipe.
No springs on this one. But I know what you mean. You need a good spring hook. 👍
When’s it coming then codger 😉😀
I wish! 🤞👍👍
You sold me on the wings exhaust. Looks great on the bike. If you want a cat delete, you should look up competition wurks delete kit. It gives the bike a clean sound.
Cheers! 👍
Last 2 years, I've test rode it at the ABR festival 😍 what a bike off road 🥰 will be third time this year. Would love one of these in the garage.
They made that thing out of magic 👍
Noooooooo
It's a really nice bike but I love the Honda NX and I could gey 2 of them,or 3 if you fully speced it.
It certainly ain't cheap, there's no denying it. 👍
I knew you'd like it a LOT! Come to the dark side 😂

@@CodgerBiker 🤮
Is that the Exorcist? 😉 Really great bike though, I cannot deny. 👍
@@CodgerBiker Sure was!
That bike is built like a high quality rifle. Really like it. 👍
Thanks for the vid, I did this on a cb300r, the throttle side seemed too complicated to move everything, ( both brake fluid reservoir, throttle assembly), so I wedged the clamp top and bottom, (with the bar weight out, but the screw in) and pulled it out with a vice grips. Not as clean as your procedure, but very little drama. CB300 weights don't seem as robust as the 500. Thanks again
Cheers! They are not so bad are they, once you know how they work. 👍👍
Hello! I am an oddly proportionated bloke - - in cms. 177 height, 118 chest, 97 waist, 190 "wing-span" and 82 kg -- so I was wandering which size to order. I ended up ordering the XXL for the Knox Urbane Pro mk3, which arrived yesterday. I bought it online from the Netherlands (I am in Portugal so, since Brexit, I could not buy from the UK) but it is not so easy to find it available in Europe. I was worried that it could be a bit big but it fits me fine, just a tad loose on the waist, but not too long on the waist and perfect on the chest, shoulders and my long arms. First impressions: very good jacket, a bit warmer than expect when standing still but considerably more vented than my Merlin Shenstone which is also vented; quite comfortable; and it fits really fine underneath other non-armoured jackets. First annoyance: the internal mobile pocket is too high up and is too narrow and that makes it a pain to insert and remove the phone, especially due to the grippy case on the mobile. I believe it has potential to become my most used jacket. Thank you for your review.
Cheers. Good input also. I agree the phone pocket is not great, I put my phone in the ordinary pocket, or if wearing a jacket over it, in exterior pocket. I must admit I had to try one on first, before spending that much money. But it seems to be true enough to size, for me at least. 👍👍
Hello I like this windscreen and want to take the same for my bike. It is model 2023 and I hope it will fit. But on the official site, they don't have delivery to Europe. I contacted them via email - no response. From where did you purchase it? Thank you.
Hello. I do not think it is made any more. I bought it from Touratech UK. However I think if I was buying one now, then I'd look at Adventure Spec screens as they offer GPS/Usb options. So maybe try them. Good luck 👍
@CodgerBiker Thank you for the fast reply. Aventure spec one is too big and leaned forward, but for now, it looks like the only viable option without making holes on the front plastic.
KTM did one also. You have to drill the front plastics though. 👍
10x
Heads up. Make sure the smaller circumference rubber grommet faces the bar opening when installing because of the clip diameter. Also the new Honda dealer bar ends come with an additional 3 " of weighted bar adding more vibration dampening. Also be sure use the longer of the two supplied washers if you used this hack with Barkbusters as I did. 😊😊😊😊
Does the red section on the rev counter represent the power band?
More or less. It's quite wide on this bike as not so highly tuned. But yes, that's general idea 👍
DCT perfect, exhoust fantastic, u can turn off traction if u go to offroad ( u dont go with NT )... that is alll good... Issue with Center stand - heavy bike, weak motor, clunky, high consuption, heating issue legs balls etc, no good ergonomic, creapy aerodinamic, design? Its subjective... Luggages are useless at all.... No underlight buttons...
Oops. But us of a certain age have all been there 😂
Ha ha! Not the first time, hopefully the last! 👍👍
